The European Commission's Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI) promotes the circular economy in cities and regions. It helps local and regional authorities to develop and implement sustainable and circular economic models.Prognos supports the CCRI with scientific analyses, strategy development and monitoring methods. We contribute data-based expertise to support cities and regions in their transformation to a circular economy. As part of this, we have developed a self-assessment tool. The tool was presented by Jannis Lambert at an event on 6 February 2025. A self-assessment tool: How far are regions on the road to a circular economy? The CCRI Policy Monitoring System is an essential part of the European Commission's Circular Cities and Regions Initiative (CCRI). It helps cities and regions to monitor and assess their progress towards a circular economy. The system provides frameworks, baseline assessments and indicators to enable local and regional authorities to measure the impact of their circular economy policies. As part of the Policy Monitoring System, we developed the Self-Assessment Tool. It supports cities and regions in selecting and monitoring suitable indicators for measuring their circular economy activities. Main features of the self-assessment tool:Indicator selection: The tool offers a selection of over 100 verified indicators from which users can choose those that best reflect their specific circular economy activities and goals.Progress monitoring: By regularly collecting and analysing the selected indicators, cities and regions can measure and evaluate their progress.Adaptability: The tool is designed to be flexible to meet the different needs and conditions of different cities and regions.Data visualisation: It offers functions for visualising the data entered in order to support decision-making processes and present the results in an understandable way.By using the self-assessment tool, local and regional authorities can plan, implement and monitor their circular economy strategies more effectively, contributing to more sustainable and resource-efficient communities.Links and downloads Further information on the tool (CCRI website)Further information on our activities within the framework of the CCRIStatus: 13.02.2025 Do you have questions?
