Economical and Ecological Vehicle Assessment

Eeva enables the sytematic comparison of various drive technologies for passenger cars and vans. Eeva thus helps institutions in the procurement of vehicles by calculating economic and ecological aspects for all vehicle models available in Germany and compiling them in a ranking list. The vehicle models are compared based on individual information, such as estimated vehicle use (annual mileage) or the availability of charging facilities.

The economic vehicle evaluation consists of fixed, operating, and additional costs. The fixed costs refer to the purchase price or leasing instalments. Whether a vehicle is to be purchased or leased can be selected from the input screen.

In terms of operating costs, the energy or fuel costs are considered. In the case of additional costs, a distinction is made between costs for refuelling (differentiated according to the type of drive) and costs for the (limited) driving range of electric cars.

In eeva, the vehicles are subjected to a holistic comparison. This also includes an ecological assessment. Thus, the dimensions of “upstream and downstream effects in production and disposal/recycling” as well as “climate costs” and “air pollution” are considered. In order to compare the ecological effects with the economy or to offset the two dimensions, the ecological criteria are monetised and expressed in the unit of Euro per year.
