Baden-Württemberg’s housing market is seeing a clear imbalance between supply and demand. Between 2011 and 2015, the demand for apartments rose by 4.6 percent (215,000 households), while supply grew by only 2.5 percent (128,000 apartments). This resulted in an “accrued buildings deficit” of 88,000 too few apartments. This is the conclusion of a Prognos study on behalf of L-Bank. The study results were presented at the “Housing Alliance” summit talk. The objective of the study was and is to provide Baden-Württemberg’s decision-makers in politics, administration, and the housing industry with information and a framework for orientation – with regard to the long-term development of Baden-Württemberg’s housing market. The study also includes conclusions and overarching recommendations for the orientation of housing policy in Baden-Württemberg.
