Supporting the Jordanian-German Energy Partnership
German Energy Agency (dena)/Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK)
ongoing
With the goal of continuing to expand the energy supply in their respective countries in a way that is environmentally compatible, progressive and economical, in 2019, Germany and Jordan agreed to further reinforce their cooperation.
The Jordanian-German Energy Partnership is the central platform for the energy policy dialogue between Germany and Jordan. In Germany, the contracting authority is the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection (BMWK) and the political executing agency in Jordan is the Ministry for Energy and Natural Resources (MEMR). The German Energy Agency (dena) has the role of coordinator for the energy partnership’s activities.
Prognos is the specialist partner for questions of energy statistics, digitalisation and modelling.
In September, in the context of the partnership, energy experts Friedrich Seefeldt and Mohammad Alkasabreh made a trip to Jordan that was coordinated by the dena. In the capital Amman, they worked for a whole week together with decision makers from ministries, public authorities and the energy industry on new concepts for Jordanian energy statistics.
The exchange has a goal – to push forward the energy transition in both countries. This means:
The findings will be discussed in further meetings and continue to be developed in collaboration with German energy statistics stakeholders.
