Energy

Heating Market

Application

The Heating Market tool calculates the annual sales or sales structure for heating systems in buildings. The model is used to determine the influence of political measures (e. g., funding or CO2 pricing) and/or energy prices on the purchase decision of heating systems.

Model core

A discrete choice model that maps the heating purchase decision process with a utility function. A distinction is made between different applications, including whether they are used in new or existing buildings, or whether the installation is in single-family homes or in multi-occupancy buildings. The underlying benefit function is based on investment costs, current energy costs, and environmental costs (emissions). These variables are influenced, among other things, by the heating system costs, energy and CO2 prices, political measures, the energy source used, and efficiency (of the plant, but also of the building). The model output are sales structures of the heating systems according to the different specific applications.
