Web tool:
Risk analysis
for sustainable
supply chains

Supply chains should become more transparent and sustainable. The regulatory and social requirements (from LkSG to CSDDD) in the context of supply chains for companies are constantly increasing.

The focus is on issues such as child and forced labour, but environmental aspects in connection with human rights are also part of the requirements placed on companies. They are faced with the major challenge of scrutinising their usually complex and far-reaching supply chains for associated risks.

Identifying sustainability risks in supply chains

By analysing the risks relating to human and environmental rights along the entire supply chain, companies can meet the increasing requirements. To this end, Prognos has developed a web tool that enables the association's member companies to individually identify sustainability risks along their supply chain. The tool provides an initial indication of potential hotspots in countries and sectors.

For an industry-specific analysis tailored to the association's needs, we have modelled the supply chains for six key industries as prototypes. The sectors include the economically strong German industries

  • Mechanical engineering,
  • metal products,
  • metal production,
  • IT equipment,
  • electrical equipment and
  • vehicle construction

as well as an overall evaluation for the manufacturing industry. The modelling of supply linkages makes it possible to map the entire value chain up to raw material production without the need for time-consuming input of sensitive company data. The abstract risks are weighted and concretised on the basis of the calculated Tier N supply chains.

In addition to the web tool, we also developed important documents for users, such as documentation, individual results and further information on guideline-compliant risk analysis and improved supply chain transparency. These can be downloaded from the tool's download area.

Tool enables companies to identify and validate potential risks

Our low-threshold tool can provide the affected member companies of the association with a good introduction and validation of potential risks in the supply chain. As a result, users can obtain information on their sector and further tailor it to their specific situation.

Companies that are new to their own supply chain can get a good initial assessment of potential risks. Those already experienced can review their previous findings and obtain targeted risk information on individual topics such as child labour or tailor it to specific countries for supply chain modelling.
